He was stabbed 23 times.
He died through a conspiracy of 60 senators in Rome.
He was murdered in a meeting by his own senators.
He was married to Cleopatra at the time he died.
BC had enormous consequences for Rome, triggering a series of civil wars that saw Caesars great –nephew Octavian secure his place Augustus the first Roman emperor.
44 BC Caesar had been appointed dictator ( a position only given at times of great crisis) by the time he died he may have been a god in Roman eyes.
